Corner Lab

Radical SR8 V8

Mid-engined · Naturally aspirated V8 · Downforce 2/5

A mid-engined sports prototype with real aero and a V8: it wants commitment in fast corners and precision when the wing is doing less. Braking zones are where most time is won or thrown away.

Trust the aero where it is alive, and be deliberate where speed drops. Do not treat every corner like a wing car.

Symptoms this car reads differently

Steps out on entry
Big brakes and a light rear can rotate the car if you release abruptly. Bleed into the turn.
Nervous at high speed
In fast corners the platform is aero-dependent. A mid-corner lift at speed is expensive — settle the car first.
Snaps on exit
Power arrives quickly. Open the wheel before asking for all of it on a still-loaded rear.
Falls off over the stint
Tyres pay for sliding a car that should be planted. Smooth in the slow stuff preserves the fast stuff.

What this car's answers lean on

  4. Anti-roll bars
  5. In-car driver aids and gearing
  6. Camber, toe, caster
  7. Damper clicks
  8. Differential and engine braking
