Corner Lab

McLaren 570S GT4

Mid-engined · Twin-turbo V8 · Downforce 2/5

A mid-engined GT4 with more power than the class average and still less aero than a GT3. It is sharp when the platform is settled and greedy with rear tyre if you ask for drive too early.

Place it, keep mid-corner load clean, then use the turbo as the wheel opens. Do not expect GT3 downforce to save a rushed entry.

Symptoms this car reads differently

Steps out on entry
Mid-engine rotation comes quickly on an abrupt release. Soften the pedal.
Snaps on exit
Turbo torque on a still-loaded rear. Straighten first.
Falls off over the stint
Rear tyre life is the stint. Clean exits beat heroics.
